Prostate Cancer

1. A Phase II/III Study of Standard Chemotherapy Versus Standard Chemotherapy plus a Novel Agent for the Treatment of Hormone Refractory Prostate Cancer

Target Patient Population:
· Patients with hormone refractory prostate cancer
· Patients who are considered metastatic by a rise in PSA, bone disease, or soft tissue disease.
· Patients must have a PSA greater than 5 ng/ml
· Patents must not have received prior chemotherapy
· Patients who are eligible for chemotherapy

Patients will be randomized to receive standard chemotherapy or standard chemotherapy plus a new novel agent that is a derivative of vitamin D. This is double blind study with a 1 to 1 randomization, therefore the patient will not know which treatment group he has been assigned.
