1. A Phase III Randomized Study
Comparing Standard Chemotherapy Compared to Standard Chemotherapy
with a Novel Agent
Target Patient Population
· Patients must have already received first line treatment
for metastatic colon or rectal cancer
· Patients must have already received the drug Irinotecan
(also called Camptosar or CPT-11)
· Patients must not have received more than 1 prior
chemotherapy for the treatment of metastatic disease. Patients
may have received treatment in the adjuvant setting as well.
· Patients must not have received the drug Oxaliplatin
All patients will receive standard
chemotherapy for relapse after treatment for metastatic disease.
Patients will be randomized to receive standard chemotherapy
or standard chemotherapy plus a new novel agent. This is an
open label study with a 1 to 1 randomization, therefore all
patient will know which treatment group they have been assigned.
The study medication is epidermal growth factor receptor blocker
that is used in combination with chemotherapy.

2. An Open Label Trial Using the
SALTZ regimen with a Growth Factor for Patients with Metastatic
Disease
Target Populations
· Patients must have metastatic colorectal disease
that can be measured either by Physical exam or CT scan.
· Patients must not have received the drug Irinotecan
in the last 3 months
· Patients may have received any number or combination
of previous treatments as long as they are eligible for treatment
with the SALTZ regimen
All patients will receive standard
chemotherapy according to the SALTZ regimen. All patients
will receive the study medication (ie: growth factor) for
5 day following chemotherapy treatment. This is a non-randomized
study, therefore all patient will receive the same treatment.
Please contact Christine DeFrancisco
at 760-598-1700 for more details.
3. A Phase II Double-Blind Study
Comapring a Standard Chemotherapy With or Without a Growth
Factor
Target Populations
· Patients must have metastatic or locally advance
colorectal disease that can be measured either by Physical
exam or CT scan
· Patients must not have had chemotherapy for metastatic
disease. Patients may have received 5-FU combinational chemotherapy
in the adjuvant setting only
The patient will receive standard chemotherapy
by continuous infusion with or without a novel growth factor.
The study is a randomized, double-blind study, therefore the
patient and the doctor will not know which group the patient
has been assigned.
