Rupa Subramanian, M.D.

Medical Oncology and Hematology, Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology After completing medical school at Lady Harding Medical College in New Delhi, India, Dr. Subramanian completed her residency at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles and her Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at UCI Medical Center in Irvine. Dr. Subramanian received special honors in Residency being honored Resident of the Year for all of UCLA Medical Center from 1998 through 1999.

She currently remains an Assistant Clinical Professor of Hematology and Oncology at University of California Irvine Medical Center. Dr. "S" as we like to call her, has maintained an active part of the cancer research community, having done research with Baylor University in Texas and UCI Medical Center. She also continues to actively participate in clinical trials for several tumor types in her private practice.

After going the Compassionate Cancer Care Medical Group in Orange County in 2003, she established one of Orange County's exclusive comprehensive breast center dedicated to the specialized care of women with breast cancer. She recently joined the San Diego Cancer Center and the San Diego Cancer Research Institute with a specialty in Breast Cancer. Although her practice focuses on Breast Cancer, she is also an expert on General Oncology and Hematology. As a member of the San Diego Cancer Center team, she is an active investigator in over 30 clinical trials, collaborating with Biopharmaceutical companies and the University of California, Los Angeles Oncology Research Network.

As a new member of the San Diego Cancer community, Dr. Subramanian is planning on starting San Diego's only Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center that will be based out of our Encinitas facility. The center with focus on integrating all facets of breast cancer treatment, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, mammography, and support groups all in one facility.

Dr. Subramanian is also a dedicated wife and mother of a young son and daughter.
