Hematology
The Hematology program at the San Diego Cancer Center offers compassionate, multidisciplinary care for people with a variety of benign blood disorders and cancers that develop in bone marrow, blood and lymph nodes, including:
- Anemia
- Aplastic anemia
- Coagulation and thrombotic disorders (bleeding and clotting disorders)
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- Hemophilia
- Leukemia
- Leukopenia
- Lymphoma, both Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin
- Myeloproliferative neoplasms
- Multiple myeloma
- Thrombocythemia
We offer a full range of standard and innovative treatments, including less toxic chemotherapy options. Our facilities include an on-site pharmacy, a comfortable treatment area and a dedicated room staff.
Services Provided
The hematology team at the San Diego Cancer Center treats people with a variety of benign blood disorders and cancers that develop in the bone marrow, blood and lymph nodes through the following programs and centers:
Benign blood disorders
We offer treatment for all types of noncancerous blood disorders, including anemia, aplastic anemia, hemophilia, neutropenia, neutrophilia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytosis and myeloproliferative neoplasms. The myeloproliferative neoplasms include Polycythemia Vera, essential thrombocytosis, primary myelofibrosis and chronic myelogeneous leukemia.
Coagulation and thrombotic disorders
Our specialists offer care for people with bleeding and thrombotic disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand's disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism and thrombocytopenias. Additionally, we offer genetic evaluation for Factor V Leiden deficiency.
Leukemia
Both acute and chronic leukemias are diagnosed at the San Diego Cancer Center, we also include care for pre-leukemic conditions such as myelodysplastic syndrome.
Lymphoma
The San Diego Cancer Center offers care for people with Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphomas, as well as hairy cell leukemia and Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia.
Multiple myeloma and other plasma dyscrasias
We provide patients with expert diagnostic, therapeutic and innovative management for these cancers.
